Do's
- Always use an original adapter and batteries for your notebook. 40% of the problem is because of not using the original ones.
- Keep PC away from windows and balcony specially during monsoon.
- Use a soft cloth and alcohol-free cleaner to clean the LCD screen.
- While transporting the notebook, place it in the compartment of the bag/ sleeve provided with the notebook. Do not pack the notebook along with other things like files etc. inside the bags. You should always carry it in a a good-quality cushiony laptop bag/case that provides protection against drops and jostles always ensure base of the bag is well cushioned and clear 28% of the damage is result of that.
- Always unplug the power cord and LAN cable during lightning storms, to protect against power surge.
- Backup your data regularly to an external drive or USB thumb drive, auto backup on cloud it is a good option.
- To save battery backup time - reduce brightness and contrast control as little as possible.
- A good antivirus program is a must for any personal computer, better the antivirus lesser the troubles.
- Always preferred licence Microsoft operating system and other licence programs.
- There should be no obstruction to the vents while working else will heat up the laptop and the laptop will hang or underperform, don't place it on a pillow/ blanket or surface.
- If by any accident water is spilled on the laptop, switch off the laptop, use a hair dryer to dry it, don't switch it on for at least 48 hours and keep it dry. there are high chances that it will power on again.
- keep the lid closed of the laptop when not in use, this will prevent magnetic particles stopping or settling on the keyboard and avoid short circuit.
Don't
- Never pick up notebook by holding LCD. Never push, squeeze or otherwise apply force to LCD or its surrounding screen. Precaution needs to be taken while transporting notebook, so that LCD does not get damaged.
- Don't keep any weight over the notebook and also don't use it in kitchens, beaches, bathtubs etc.
- Never allow any metallic objects like paper clips etc. to fall into the unit. If that should happen immediately turn off notebook and contact nearest service centre.
- Never allow any liquid to spill into any part of a notebook, and never expose it to rain or water. Avoid jerking aur hard shocks to notebook.
- If hinges of the laptop is giving away, get it repair immediately else it will damage the LCD cable and you have to incur more expenses.
- Do not place notebook near heat source and never expose note book to direct sunlight and do not keep your cell phone on the top of your laptop while both are on.
Following these simple tips can keep your laptop running and working for years to come and prevent you from having to spend for repairs or buy a new one.
